Ode to Rebecca
Life Was a Willow and More — #6
The woman knew she was in love with a mirage.
Paranoia ran through her as she wondered if she would become another ghost left to wander, listless and alone, outside a mansion doomed to burn. She had nothing but the clothes on her back, really, but her husband thought her a nuisance already.
If she stayed with him, she could foresee her own murder.
She may never again know a kiss like his, but she knew better from the whispers of things in the dark.
She wouldn’t become like Rebecca, that wife who was blamed for her own untimely death.
Welcome to my tribute for the 3-year anniversary of Taylor Swift’s album Evermore. This is an ode to “no body, no crime,” the sixth song of the album.
