Ode to Jane Eyre
Life Was a Willow and More — #4
Jane knew Christmas at Thornfield would not be a happy affair.
Rochester had left her so many times — or so it felt.
Hers was a notebook of sorrow, stained with tears from the times she had written lovesick poetry over him and his whims.
The sky was clear like a blank page, but it was ready to spill out fresh snow.
Tomorrow she would hold her head high and tell herself love was hers to lose — again, again, again.
The poetry would be burned in the fireplace, never to be seen again.
Hers would be a love in the shadows.
Welcome to my tribute for the 3-year anniversary of Taylor Swift’s album Evermore. This is an ode to “‘tis the damn season,” the fourth song of the album.
