Antony looked at Cleopatra with eyes of gray.

“You’re a storm,” he said.

She smiled like a cat with a mouse in its jaws. “Do you really think so?” she asked, and her blush was bronze — a golden sunset — across her cheekbones.

“Yes. And you are the loveliest storm I ever did see.”

“Pretty words,” she responded. “Are you a poet?”

“I’ve been called many things.”

“Of course you have,” she said.

“But I can be a lover too. Anything you want. Anything, my lady.”

“That is tempting,” she admitted. “But I need a warrior.”

“Then you shall have him.”
