Ode to Cleopatra
Life Was a Willow and More — #1
Antony looked at Cleopatra with eyes of gray.
“You’re a storm,” he said.
She smiled like a cat with a mouse in its jaws. “Do you really think so?” she asked, and her blush was bronze — a golden sunset — across her cheekbones.
“Yes. And you are the loveliest storm I ever did see.”
“Pretty words,” she responded. “Are you a poet?”
“I’ve been called many things.”
“Of course you have,” she said.
“But I can be a lover too. Anything you want. Anything, my lady.”
“That is tempting,” she admitted. “But I need a warrior.”
“Then you shall have him.”
Welcome to my tribute for the 3-year anniversary of Taylor Swift’s album Evermore. This is an ode to “willow,” the first song of the album.
