Let’s call him Prince Charming.

But she wasn’t Cinderella. Not quite. She had the pretty dresses, though, and the winsome smile.

They were supposed to be a match made in heaven.

His was a kiss meant to break the spell of her sorrow.

But happily-ever-after was not in the cards for them.

She watched as he fell in love with other maids.

He watched as she began to fall out of love and into despair.

Theirs was not a storybook made of fairy-tale gossamer.

It seemed heartbreak was meant to be the tale as old as time.

Welcome to my tribute for the 3-year anniversary of Taylor Swift’s album Evermore. This is an ode to “long story short,” the twelfth song of the album.
