Ode to a Little Girl
Life Was a Willow and More — #13
The snow globe sat on the mantle, and the little girl marveled at it the way young girls always admired their grandmother’s trinkets. She sat and admired the beauty of the falling flakes, glitter in the air of the little world inside the sphere. It was a beautiful world, untouched by any ugliness.
Her grandmother said, “Be careful, be careful,” with a laugh.
Someday the snow globe would shatter, and the grandmother would be gone, and the little girl would have become a woman who cried tears of sorrow for what had once been.
But that day was not today.
Welcome to my tribute for the 3-year anniversary of Taylor Swift’s album Evermore. This is an ode to “marjorie,” the thirteenth song of the album.
