Ode to a Girl and a Boy
Life Was a Willow and More — #16
The girl was a paperback in the guise of a person. But she had a lock upon her with no key to be found.
This was how the boy found her, and he was a shattered thing too, something left by the wayside for others to try and bargain for.
Theirs was a love not meant to last.
But they sat in their favorite little restaurant and drank wine.
Someday, they would part. Someday, there would be an ending.
Someday, she would cry. Someday, he would plead.
And he would leave. And she would stay put.
So it was.
Unfortunately.
Welcome to my tribute for the 3-year anniversary of Taylor Swift’s album Evermore. This is an ode to “right where you left me,” the sixteenth song of the album.
