Oh, you look interested now. I can see the spark in your eyes. You’re intrigued by me. Did the pearls seduce you, or have I got your full attention now? Maybe the wine has done you in already. You’re giving me that sloppy smile that all the men think makes them look sexy. Really, though, you look like you’re about to fall asleep with those droopy eyes. Maybe I need to run another background check to see you’re not forty going on seventy-five. I’ve been fooled before.
My husband would kill me if he knew I was meeting with another man. If one of his business associates sees us, I’m going to say you’re a talent scout who wants to feature me in a magazine. It doesn’t matter which one. I’ve gotten offers — not for a while, maybe, but nobody else needs to know that. You’re still smiling at me, and you’re definitely the cute type, but the dimples in your cheeks make me want to kick you to bring you back down to planet earth.
