I never told you about Autumn, did I? She was my first love — before your mother, before college.

You’re young. You haven’t fallen in love yet. Sometimes I think you might be better off if you never did. The pain of it is just as great as the beauty of it.

Autumn loved dancing and making people laugh. She was the heartbeat of every room. I was amazed by her.

I never told her, and I regret it.

One day, she never came home. Vanished, just like that. Gone, like a dream.

I still look in every crowd for her.
