Alliyah crept up behind Antony as he stood at the kitchen counter, slicing up vegetables for the stir fry they were going to make for dinner. He insisted on trying some new blend of Cajun seasoning he’d found to spice up the mixture, and she smiled while rolling her eyes at him. He was so peculiar in his quirks, but she figured they were just new ways to love him.
She wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her nose into his back. He smelled of clean bedsheets and a soft cologne that reminded her of the ocean. She didn’t need to look him in the face to see he was smiling, but he pretended he didn’t notice her by humming a refrain from one of his favorite songs.
She lightly tapped her forehead between his shoulder blades. “Are you going to ignore me, or are you just playing hard to get?”
“Oh, I know all about hardness,” he said in that coy way of his. She backed up and smacked him lightly on the arm before he turned to grin at her.
“And I know all about softness,” she replied, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
