hey, do you think it’s fine
if i call you mine?

it won’t be for long, boy,
because i know the clock’s
ticking down to midnight.

but i think you’re nice —
like a bouquet made just for me —
except somehow they got the name tag wrong.

hey, do you think i can
call you up sometime?

i won’t keep you up, boy,
no matter how much your voice
may make me think of more than words.

but i think you’re something —
real special, real neat, clever as can be —
except you’ve got your eyes on someone else.

hey, do you think
i’m a little bit crazy?

i’ll never lie to you, boy,
but there are some things i’ll leave
with only the answer of a smile on my face.

but i think you’ve got it all —
the brains, the charm, the style —
even though you aren’t looking at me.
