Love Me or Leave Me Behind

A Poem

power play,
trippin’ and trippin’ —
oh, you think you’re bad,
but I’m worse.

did you think this glitter girl
could become your worst nightmare?

flippin’ switches
and runnin’ ‘round stalls
till we’re in a frenzy
all from this cat-and-mouse game.

did you think you’d be outplayed
by a girl playing the long game?

I told you once
and I’ll tell you again
just how much I love you —
but you’re not listening, are you?

did you think love would hurt so much
that it was like a bruise that wouldn’t fade?

Love me
or leave me behind —
it’s a simple request,
but you’re still counting stars.

did you think my kiss would linger
long after the burn disappeared?

game set —
now it’s the final countdown
and we’re playin’ it cool
while we begin to lose ourselves.
