Love and Miracles

A Poem

i don’t know about you,
but there are so many stars
i’ve wished upon past midnight
just for a glimmer of your affection

but the wishing well
always runs dry,
no matter the coins
i throw into the abyss

and loving you
was like that

and loving you
was phantom pain

oh, it’s a miracle
to love someone
and feel that love
returned, isn’t it?

i don’t know about you,
but there are so many nights
i stay sleepless and restless
because i want you so much

but the sun always sleeps
while the moon hangs low
and the stars laugh at me
with all their fickle plans

and loving you
feels like falling

and loving you
feels like losing

oh, it’s a miracle
to be known,
to be beloved,
to be treasured
