Laughter Entwines Us in Fate’s Threads
Prose Poetry
Hey, lover, do you have a moment to spare? Sit and stay a while in this little garden of you and me while we block out the rest of the universe.
The blue sky looks like a pool we could jump into and disappear — at least for a little while — until they come looking for us and ruin all our fun.
Your laugh sets me free during the darkest moments, and just being beside you feels like a hint of what paradise might be like.
I could sit here all day and bask in the sunlight of your every move and gesture.
But time is against us, I know, I know. Nothing ever lasts in a world so prone to cruelty. We have to find the glimpses of joy before they sputter out like fireworks dying in a night sky.
Today, we’re sitting back and looking for shapes in the clouds.
Tomorrow, we may be on different coasts as we pine for what might have been.
Regrets — who needs them? Life’s not long enough for the realm of who-could-say.
We don’t deal in absolutes, yet we still cling to the idea of each other because everyone else is so disappointing. When did we find more solace in one person compared to all the friends we’d known before?
