I couldn’t run forever, could I? I was so tired of being chased.
But the shadows nipped at my heels every time I thought of stopping. It was a game the darkness liked to play at the hands of the Horned King. People like me were the most vulnerable, our hearts open for attack during the chaos of the Wild Hunt.
If I was caught, I’d never know a day of peace again.
There were worse things than things with teeth in the dark. Some monsters walked in the daylight.
I had to keep going to survive till another morning.
