A broken Oracle was no good to anyone — but a warrior? That was someone who could do good in the world.

Or that was how Annalisa felt the day she was meant to choose her Affinity in front of the gods. She chose the quill and sword, thinking herself clever as she stood before the likes of Zeus and Athena. The gods just smiled at her as if she were a twee thing.

The problem? She was entering a time when warriors — the strategic, the quick-witted, the savvy — were no longer needed.

It would be quite the rude awakening.

This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “Story II” from Nishi.
