James Dean didn’t mind this girl — Daisy — being in his head.

It was actually kind of nice.

As they moved through simulations, he found he liked the way she bit her bottom lip when she was concentrating especially hard. Whoever got to bring her home after all this was over was a lucky man indeed.

When they were locked up like this, it was probably a stupid thought.

“Faster,” the robots said.

James Dean rolled his eyes. Fascists, the lot of them.

Then Daisy looked up at him.

What’s wrong?

He sighed.

It’s nothing.

Good thing she couldn’t hear everything.

This series is inspired by 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in a city on the brink of dystopian musings. Each story is 100 words, a snapshot of a larger narrative at play.
