James Dean awoke in a new world, gasping alive on a park bench in Central Park.

He didn’t know how he had gotten there — how many years had passed since his death? — but he knew one thing: he was here under a sky still scattered with stars.

“Gatsby. Daisy.”

Those were the two names that came to his mind. He didn’t know them, didn’t remember them, but he knew better than to argue with something like fate.

A small robot slid by, and he nearly jumped at the strangeness of it all.

This world would take some getting used to.

This series is inspired by 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in a city on the brink of dystopian musings. Each story is 100 words, a snapshot of a larger narrative at play.
