In the Realm of a Galaxy’s Tides
Prose Poetry
tell me secrets that run deep like waters blue — so sweet they are, traversing universes as tiny as the eyes of needles, till we’re lost in fades of white behind our lids as smiles bloom languidly on our lips
tell me the worth of a song, in the weathers of a wind so true — how wild they run, children chasing after strings in hydraulic chambers and catching stars against their fingertips, until all the air is sucked dry from their mouths and sleep is but a chance to dream in vivid newness
tell me the fate of galaxies far from here — what the weight of a planet is in the palm of a god, if we even believed in those deities anymore when they’ve just given us strife and worlds dying from lack of sustenance and stability, but we still close our eyes to the awful truths in front of us
tell me you still believe in humanity — even with the ways mortal souls gnaw at each other, like dogs fighting over scraps in desolate fields, and we’ve fled to our steel chambers for some semblance of hope in this grand dream we’re all sharing
tell me you still can sleep at night — if only for just an escape when we’re faced with a strange world out there, and we don’t know what exists beyond the desert facing us
maybe we can still dream at night, my love, even as our hearts scream for more
