I could have told you what you wanted to hear, but I didn’t.
When people came to me, they were looking for magic to solve all their problems. To them, happy endings were the goal. And, to them, I had the key to all the doorways in the universe.
But magic is limited — the same as any other power in the world.
I did my best with what I had. I turned frogs into princes, wooden sticks into swords.
But there was a price every time.
Most often, I took hold of their hearts — their essence — to keep them captive.
