A Poem
hello, love,
it’s been a while —
a long time coming, in fact —
and i can’t believe you’re looking at me
you know i’m waiting on your cues
and hoping beyond hope that you’ll be mine
once upon an ever after, once upon an ever after —
this belief that we’re meant to be beyond all the noise
hello, love,
i’ll kiss you dizzy
when we meet again at last
as if we’re dancing on moonbeams
you know i’m sitting in our treehouse
of daydreams building and building again —
these firefly moments surrounding us in a shroud
of becoming, of transforming, of originating in space
hello, love,
i’m besotted by you
with all your tales and songs
as if i can never be sated by your mind
you know i’m driving my car right now
and wishing you were in the passenger seat
as we ride off into that sunset of fairy-tale endings —
those things you dreamed of, that love you wanted to keep
