Anastasia Lowell knew it would be a tough assignment to interview a man like Harlan Masters. The man, known for his penchant of tomfoolery for the masses, hadn’t granted an interview to anyone beyond his circle of friends in five years. What was even more puzzling was that he had agreed to do so with the Glory Times, an off-shoot newspaper from the City Enquirer. Why wouldn’t a man like Harlan go to GQ or Playboy or even Rolling Stone? It felt like a scheme of epic proportions.

When she arrived at the suite where the interview was to take place, Anastasia fidgeted with her blouse. No matter what she did, it wouldn’t lay right. Finally, giving off a sigh of frustration, she ran her hands down the fabric and thought it was always just her luck that things never went her way. Even the elevator coming up had been stubborn: it had passed the first floor from the garage level, going to the sixth floor, before coming back down to the lobby to pick her up.

A woman with a perky blonde pixie cut assisted Anastasia by giving her the ground rules of what the interview would entail. Ana had to sign a NDA — though she frowned at this little detail — before she could go into the room where she awaited the infamous Harlan Masters.
