I’m falling in love with you.

There’s so much in one heave of a confession, an eternity lived in seconds, till it’s bursting and time —

Oh, time is the hourglass that only stops when it’s broken (Are we there yet? Are we there yet?).

I thought you were the answer, the drug, the miracle out of nothing but water turning to wine —

And I, oh, I can’t keep going like this, can I?

My tears are blood tonight, or so it feels in this cascade of senses building, building, building to an unfortunate end —

I fell in love with you.

There’s so much I wish I could tell you, how I want to cleave the sins of the world from your body’s strife —

Oh, the words are just pollen to the wind, gone too soon, off to scatter in other fields so vibrant and alive (Why did we leave? Why did we leave?).

And I, oh, I can’t keep you from going off on your own, can I?

The flowers in our garden die again, another ending in so fine a season, but it’s the way of things, oh, isn’t it —

There are no words to change the tides of this love, not now that it’s in motion—
