The throne room was suffocating for the prince.
It had always been this way.
He curled his fingers at his collar and tugged as if he were an animal on a leash. A heavy sigh unfurled from his lips. A shiver trembled through his form, the after-effect of the sickness that had plagued him months before.
The crowds outside would be cheering for his return from the battlefield of Arkady.
But the truth was that the war had been lost.
The citizenry didn’t need to know.
Not yet.
The invaders would show up soon enough and show them all.
This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “Come back to me” from RM.
