I Thought I’d Be the One You Called “Special”
Not darling or sweetheart or my love — but something more.
I was never one for “pet names” (as they’re called). They always rang with a note of falseness whenever I heard them used by others.
Most often, it seemed like men used the endearments as a way to cool down a tense situation.
