I love Star Wars, but I'm not that interested in what Disney has coming down the pipeline. The only thing I could see myself tuning in for is the Obi-Wan series and maybe the one for Ahsoka. I guess my problem is that I want something NEW that doesn't call back to familiar characters and creeds. The Mandalorian was fine for that for a while, but honestly? I would have preferred it to be a mini-series since I just didn't find myself invested in what season 2 had to offer.
What got me back into Star Wars after a long break was The Force Awakens - but what made me love that film was not the callbacks or the legacy characters but the potential that new characters like Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren brought to the table. But that was still part of the "Skywalker Saga" - and so we got what we got with all the ties to legacy characters. What I want to see are new characters unrelated to what we've seen before and their adventures on new planets we haven't seen. Disney just seems, frankly, afraid to make Star Wars properties that don't build on nostalgia bait in some fashion. Even Rogue One had the cameos from Darth Vader, and The Mandalorian had "Baby Yoda" calling back to a beloved character from the original trilogy. Is a "galaxy far, far away" really so small after all that we keep getting these stories that revolve around the same types of creatures and characters? [/end rant]
