I Lost Myself In Your Haze

love never knew me
till you crossed my path,
and i fell as if i’d tripped down
a rabbit hole into Alice’s Wonderland

you were the king of my heart,
but you didn’t care you broke me

i told myself it was my fault
and i never should have chased
what wasn’t mine to begin with

love denied me, defied me —
oh, you, you, you

i never knew you
till you burned my letter,
and the ashes trailed down
just like the tears on my face

i was never the queen of your castle,
and maybe i should have known better

you told me it was all my fault
because someone like you
didn’t belong with a nobody like me

you denied me, defied me —
oh, why, why, why

they never knew
why i cried so much,
and it was a fairy tale
for everyone but me
