Aurelia Nostra Vinitas stood at the gateway between worlds and knew the Eye was watching her. She kept her expression calm even as her gaze surveyed the diamond-shaped portal through which she could see the galaxies’ workings. Her teeth gnawed slightly at her bottom lip, worrying, even though she knew nothing could be done.
The worlds were fading, one by one, like fires being extinguished by a great hand. The Eye knew it yet kept itself apart, waiting for her to speak.
“This is how the universe dies,” Aurelia said. “It fades until there’s naught but a glimmer left.”
This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “I might say something stupid” from Charli xcx.
