I know it’s cliche, but I really started having this desire for a “legacy” after I saw how Lin-Manuel Miranda portrayed Alexander Hamilton as “writing like [he was] running out of time” in the musical Hamilton. Ever since, I’ve battled with what is “easy” to write versus what may someday constitute a “legacy” after I’m gone. Lofty thoughts and ideas, I know, but they do haunt me more and more every year.
