“When are you going to let those pricks down easy?” Xander asked as he washed dishes with Amelia in the galley kitchen of their apartment. She rinsed while he dried, and they worked almost seamlessly through the small pile that had cluttered in the sink. “You know I’m the one for you. Do you enjoy making them crave you?”
Amelia sighed. “Hardly. But they’re all broken men. They somehow think I can save them. Or offer them something. I don’t know why.”
It was Xander’s turn to let out a sigh. “I don’t care that you have guy friends,” he said, “but I just want you to be careful. Okay?”
“Don’t worry,” she said, a lilting note to her voice. “I’m not going to cheat on you.”
His cheeks flushed as she teased him, his dick growing hard at the thought of her with another man. She sighed again, the note soft, before she began to hum the strain of a familiar song. Xander glanced away and said, “Maybe I should go for a run. Get some of this excess energy out.”
“Really?” She wiped her hands with one of the dish towels and sidled up close to him before reaching out to place a glass back in the cabinet. He swallowed hard, the scent of her cherry blossom perfume driving him…
