Arren watched as the rain ravaged the battlefield. Even from afar, he could see the lightning and downpours afflicting his fellow soldiers of Mistgard.
He was just a foot soldier — barely able to conjure merra from his hands — but he was still here in the trenches. A warrior mage had used spellcraft on his armor. Now all he had to do was wait for his orders.
The command to go into battle and raise his sword against their enemy, the storm goddess Farina.
Behind his closed eyes he saw Galda, his wife.
He might never glimpse her again.
A gamble.
This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “My Heart Is a Soldier” from The Juliana Theory.
