I actually thought this article of yours was a good reality check to keep expectations in perspective for other writing platforms, particularly fiction-focused ones. Plus, you never know when a platform is going to sink; I wrote for a little site called Figment in the early 10's and there was barely a whisper when the site shut down.
My goal always was to be traditionally published at some point in my life, but lately I've gotten a bit caught up in the Medium race - even though I know any success on any platform like this is fleeting. I guess that's where the knee-jerk reaction came from. I still don't feel any more "ready" for traditional publication than I did five or ten years ago.
All that to say - you reminded me to look at the long-term instead of the short-term. I think I needed that reminder.
