how does it feel
to be on the other end
of her string,
knowing you have her
to treasure and to hold
for a lifetime?

how does it feel
to know you carry
her heart in your hands
with every tremble
and every beat
whispered in your name?

how does it feel
to have the power
to keep her close
or hold her apart
at your every whim
if you so wish it?

how does it feel
to be the one —
the one at home,
the one at ease,
the one to keep —
with no doubts?

how does it feel
when she kisses you
and makes you feel
as if butterflies
are erupting inside
after all this time?

when she wakes
in your arms
morn after morn,
daylight streaming
