Hmm. Always interested in reading your cinema takes, Simon, so I’m happy to see you at least enjoyed the film.

The movie does have a lot of good moments, but I have to admit that the movie was far more emotional for me. Is that because I’m a woman? Is that because I have memories of playing with Barbie dolls? Or was there something truly resonant in the script and acting that moved me to tears at times? I don’t know the answer for sure, but I know one thing: there was a lot of love poured into this movie. I don’t think I’ve seen a movie recently that seemed to have such care and intent behind what it was supposed to do.

I know you didn’t get that from the film, but at least you gave it a chance and came away with more positive things to say than negative.
