was there any doubt
that you’d get lost
in her labyrinth
the moment you glimpsed
those pretty blue eyes?

ocean blue, perfect hue —
heaven above could never be
quite as wonderful as this.

what could you do
when she gave you
the first ultimatum
to prove your love true
in front of the whole world?

snowflake sky, snow white lie —
you tell yourself she’s just a phase
even though you can’t look away.

why would you ever start
to believe she was the end,
the answer to the question,
the great mystery solved —
all from one stolen kiss?

denim shorts, hotel resorts —
you took her hand tight in yours
and saw the whole world pass by.

when did you think it would stop —
this rush of a blush on your cheeks,
that crooked smile twitching alive,
the touch of a promise in the making —
because, really…
