He Loves Me, But…
100 Lyrics into Stories — No54
The princess knight stared into the Hollow Eye.
It gazed back at her, impassive, as nothing more than a black hole with weeping tendrils of tears as it looked out from the bark of a tree.
In its depths, she saw the other knights caught in vines of their own making. They were all victims of circumstance, and she could do nothing to free them.
She raised her sword and sighed, whispering a prayer to the Goddess.
“Be with my blade,” she said.
Then she stabbed the Eye, and black liquid spewed free.
And out came a man as well.
This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “He Loves Me, But…” from Sofia Carson.
