I told you I didn’t want to go.

The winds were raging, and the turbulent waves crashed against the docks. But you said everything was going to be okay. You’d commandeered bigger vessels through larger storms.

I trusted you more than I trusted my own gut.

I somehow knew I would never see shore again.

When the ship began to capsize, all I could think was that I needed your hand in mine.

Except another hand closed over my mouth and muffled my scream.

Legends? No.

The merfolk were real.

And they had finally found me.

Ready to reclaim me.
