Love wasn’t in the cards when Gatsby had met Daisy.

She had just been a job, really, something to pass the time.

The machines were rising, little by little, and he knew better than to fight overlords who were greater than he could ever be.

He had only so much power, after all.

But Daisy liked her simulations. That had been her first mistake, to be sure.

Every day, the same thing. She studied the simulations as if she were looking for the secrets of the universe.

Over and over.

It was a wonder she hadn’t gotten killed over it.

This series is inspired by 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in a city on the brink of dystopian musings. Each story is 100 words, a snapshot of a larger narrative at play.
