“What do you want from me?” Tigerlily asked.
She felt naked without her quiver of arrows. Why had she come to the hospital alone?
Stupid, stupid.
“Now, now,” Adam Golding said, “we’re friends of a kind, don’t you know? We’ve met before, you and I.”
She snorted. “I would remember.”
“Let’s just say I wasn’t exactly looking to be recognized,” he said.
Then his voice dipped lower as he said, “Does this tone sound more familiar?”
She stared.
“You.”
She really wished she had her arrows now.
“Don’t make me an enemy quite yet. I’m here to make a deal.”
The Chronicles of Ghostboy and Lovergirl is a microfiction series inspired by Taylor Swift’s Lover album (released 2019). Each story can be read as a standalone, but they build on each other for this superhero universe I’ve created.
