looking at you through a glass
(oh, heaven forbid we end up like this)

seeing you through classic panes
(oh, heaven forbid we end up like this)

i thought i knew a fashion’s unending bliss,
but there were too many tides to tell
(and how was i to know
you’d be staring back at me all along?)

every day i wake from a dream
and ask myself what’s going wrong

(when i should ask myself what’s going right)

and there are things i haven’t said
and paths i haven’t crossed
and times i haven’t breached
(all for this, all for this, all for this)

and the ivy trellises tell a story all their own
as they fall like braids down a brick wall
(and all for what, all for what, all for what?)

twined in this moment,
it was a heaven-sent time

twined in this moment,
it was a hell-bent escape

and there are so many things left unsaid
as much as can number the stars up above
(as much as can…
