twelve dancing princesses
waltzed in and out of my mind —
and i’m standing on some sphere of being,
lost in fairy tales great and small.

they say i’ll tussle with giants
and maybe see the stars
and perhaps dance with a time traveler —
but i don’t know any of these things.

the truth is you could be the villain,
and maybe that would suffice —
but today i look at you and wonder
what’s happening between the lines.

you can hide all you want,
that’s perfectly fine —
but i’ll be there on the end
of an invisible string.

and i’m sitting on moonbeams
in my head, in my head —
and wondering where time brought me
as the hourglass spun its sands in time.

i’m sitting back
and wondering where
all the time has gone
once upon a dream.
