The rumor had gone that only men could enter the doors of Valhalla. Men of renown, the ones whose souls had been cleaved from their shells on the battlefield — they were meant to be celebrated in Odin’s hall.
It was quite the shock to them when a woman found her way in.
I had followed my lover to the frontlines and donned armor to hide my body’s every curve.
The arrow to my chest had been quite the shock.
And dying as the valkyrie came for me — oh, I’d never know anything like it.
Had love made me a hero?
