The Dreamer’s Notebook — #1

There’s a haze to the air even though it seems like just an ordinary night in a string of nights.

The movie theater is abuzz with energy — kids laughing in their seats, teens joshing each other, parents fighting over buckets of popcorn. No one even seems to care when the lights begin to dim, heralding the trailers to come.

But at the back of the theater is something different. Something not quite right. No one would be able to put their finger on it, but you might be able to figure it out if you watched.

Just wait and see.

There are four people in the seats of the top row in the theater. You might think the row would be filled with other people — after all, it’s a crowded show for the newest blockbuster — but it’s not. Strange.

There’s a woman with wavy blonde hair falling to her shoulders, her arms crossed over her chest as she sits there with a perturbed expression on her face. Next to her is a man with similar palettes of self, except his lips are pale compared to her rich red defined by lipstick, and his eyes dart back and forth restlessly as if some part of him can’t keep still. His hand clenches and unclenches on his thigh.
