Despite falling hard for The Breakfast Club when I first saw it in my teens, my favorite John Hughes movie is definitely Ferris Bueller's Day Off - particularly in how Hughes characterized Cameron, Ferris's best friend. As someone who hopes to write YA novels someday herself, though, I definitely think Hughes's catalogue of films is a great place for YA writers to explore how to write rich, deep teenage characters and their concerns well.
