A Poem

it’s a haze,
it’s a problem,
it’s a glorious meltdown,
and it’s beautiful and ugly at once.

oh, you’ve got my chemicals
in an uproar now,
like i can’t see the low
after the high.

they can call it
delirium
if they want —
i’m not one to judge.

it’s a fog,
it’s a threat,
it’s a downhill slope,
and it’s mine to wait out.

oh, you’ve got me thinking
down paths
i’ve never considered
all because of a few words.

they can call it
delirium
if they want —
i’m not hard to please.

it’s a tide,
it’s a crash,
it’s a joy ride to hell,
and it’s as easy as breathing.

oh, you’ve got me lost
in a labyrinth,
and i can’t find my way out
without your hand in mine.
