The last thing I remember was kissing my groom before I blacked out.

When I awoke, the air around me was filled with smoke. My body trembled as if I were freezing.

My skin had become mottled gray as if I were perpetually bruised. My beautiful white dress was ruined and bloodstained. My head ached as if I’d been bludgeoned.

And my mouth tasted of rust.

In the distance, I saw a woman run. When she turned and saw me, she screamed.

I tried to speak, but only a low moan came out.

Only then did I realize the truth.
