When Daisy met James Dean, she knew who he was immediately.

Of course she did. History archives, right?

But it was something else too. There was something about his eyes that spoke to her. She wondered if she had seen him in a simulation back in the past — a memory from another life, perhaps, that she had uncovered in her studies when the robots weren’t watching.

He shook his head when their eyes met across the cell block.

It was as if he had put a finger to his lips.

Don’t tell.

She looked away.

Well, of course she wouldn't.

This series is inspired by 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in a city on the brink of dystopian musings. Each story is 100 words, a snapshot of a larger narrative at play.
