Chasing Foxes

100 Faces in 100 Stories — No31

--

I didn’t intend to follow the fox through the woods, but I needed my scarf back. Mother wouldn’t let me back in the house without it.

I ran and ran and ran. It was no use. I was out of breath before I even caught up to the little beast.

The fox’s long tail disappeared from view. I sighed.

Then I looked at my surroundings. I didn’t recognize a thing. I’d never been so far into the forest.

Then on the wind came a sound like a howl.

I shivered. My skin rippled.

The fox should have been easy prey.
