100 Faces in 100 Stories — No29
Jan 29, 2023
I knew when the first snowflakes began to fall that you weren’t going to show up for our date. Looking up at the white sky, I felt so small and insignificant. But I tried to shake it off as I braced myself against the cold.
What had I expected? You had said yes on a whim — probably as a lark to tell all your friends.
Mom said I always knew how to pick the ones who would treat me the worst.
It was a curse.
And not just by word alone.
No man would ever fall in love with me.
