Beware the King of the Deep Woods

Some said the forest was ruled by a boy who had been raised by dragons.
Others whispered that there sat a king upon an oak throne, and his crown was made of thorns.
Everyone had only half the story. No one had dared to find out the rest.
Yes, he was a dragon-raised boy — and his would-be parents still visited from time to time.
But as for being a king — well, that was a matter of perspective.
If the trees deigned to let him rule them, then that was their business.
He just craved to be left alone.
This is a part of my endeavor to go back to writing tighter fiction with more stringent word counts. It’s just one attempt at the 100 Story Challenge because I thought it would be a good exercise to do to keep my imagination sharp. We’ll see how it goes.
