And Hear My Beating Heart One Last Time
100 Lyrics into Stories — No98
The woods were deserted as Amy trampled through them, her hair getting caught by tree branches as she moved. There wasn’t even the sound of birdsong to pierce through the air and let her know there was life around her. But she tried to make each movement with purpose because she knew — just knew — the shadows were stalking her.
Her father would say she was mad, but there were worse things she had been called in all her years.
Amy looked over her shoulder as a tree’s shadow quaked. Then she turned away before running as fast as she could.
This is my third take on the 100 Story Challenge! Lyrics define these stories, and this piece‘s title was inspired by “Beating Heart” from Ellie Goulding.
